<transcy>Sketches of Jewish Social Life (La société juive à l'époque de Jésus-Christ)</transcy>
In this book, Dr. Alfred Edersheim, a Jewish scholar who converted to Christianity, leads us into the heart of Palestine. He brings us to life the time of the Savior and his Apostles by showing us the scenes and characters in the midst of which were fulfilled the events of which the New Testament offers us the inimitable record.
Study this period attentively. and this work will leave an unshakeable conviction in your mind. You will understand, without compromising the respect which is due to him, that Jesus Christ was really of his time, and that the New Testament, in its narrations, in its language and in its allusions, is strictly faithful to the time and to the circumstances in which the events are placed before our eyes.
