Repentance - is there anything more unpopular, if not frightening?
Indeed, it demands that sinful man humble himself before the God against whom he has stood up. It also demands that he turn away from the sin with which his heart is so enamored. In fact, repentance is frightening because it is impossible for a man unless the Spirit of God works on him.
And yet, is there a more necessary subject?
Necessary, because without repentance no man will see eternal life, but he will certainly perish. It is an essential element of salvation according to the Bible.

This book is therefore welcome. It presents repentance in a practical way applicable to modern thinking and living. Far from providing simplistic and misleading slogans, it examines the various facets of the subject in depth.
Where does repentance come from? What is it ? How is it essential and necessary for salvation? How to recognize between true and false repentance? What are the fruits, the proofs? What is its true place in the unfolding of salvation?
So many answers to guide the reader to come to Christ, whether in initial repentance, or in his usual exercise in daily life.
Author
John Colquhoun (1748-1827) - A native of Scotland, he studied theology at the University of Glasgow. A consecrated pastor at the age of 32, he served the Church of South Leith for 45 years, almost until his death. Born into a generation of apostasy, he serves the Church more broadly through several writings that seek to bring the biblical message back to life
