Kevin DeYoung is the pastor of Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, North Carolina. He is the author of numerous books, many of which have been translated into French. Kevin and his wife have seven children: Ian, Jacob, Elizabeth, Paul, Mary, Benjamin and Tabitha.

Un "crash course" sur la sainteté

Qu’est-ce exactement que la sainteté ? Constitue-t-elle un but que l’homme peut atteindre et, si tel est le cas, comment peut-il y parvenir ? Ce livre survole ces questions, ainsi que plusieurs autres, avec une simplicité et une pédagogie qui donnent au lecteur l’impression qu’il est en discussion avec l’auteur. Bref, mais efficace; un bon achat.

Combler l’écart entre la passion de l’évangile et la poursuite de la sainteté

La sainteté est un bien grand mot qui a souvent une connotation négative auprès des gens; ce n’est pas un sujet très à la mode parmi les chrétiens. Dans son livre Kevin Deyoung met en lumière cette faille; nul ne peut atteindre la sainteté sans que Dieu travaille dans sa vie ; nul ne peut atteindre la sainteté sans déployer le moindre effort. L’auteur nous rappelle et nous montre l’importance et la nécessité de comprendre et rechercher la sainteté dans nos vies personnelles et dans notre vie d’église, que cela est possible parce que la sainteté est le but de notre rédemption, parce que Dieu en parle beaucoup et parce que nous servons un Dieu saint. Dans son livre l’auteur discerne ce que n’est pas la sainteté, il défait toutes les fausses idées largement répandues avant de définir clairement la vraie sainteté selon les écritures.

Après avoir lu ce livre j’en suis sortie édifiée parce que l’auteur aborde le sujet avec beaucoup d’encouragement sans accabler le lecteur.
