While it is true that our future happiness comes down to being with Christ and beholding his glory, we cannot anticipate it better than by filling our minds with that glory even today. We will thus be gradually transformed into this glory.

The Glory of Christ (Meditations on the Glory of Christ) is the last work of John Owen. He wrote it, he says, "for the exercise of his own mind, as weakness, exhaustion and impending death demanded his departure from this land." This work, published in 1684, was still in press at the time of his death.

Author

John Owen , born in 1616, is one of the most eminent theologians in the history of England. At the age of 12, he entered the University of Oxford from where he obtained a bachelor's degree in 1632 and a master's degree in 1635. For a few years, he served as personal chaplain to Oliver Cromwell, this which leads him to preach in Parliament on several occasions. He will also exercise pastoral ministry in three churches during his lifetime. His grave can still be seen in Bunhill Fields Cemetery, London.
