2 Peter 3:18
How do Christians grow? Few people question the Bible's call to grow in godliness, but many have difficulty explaining how exactly this happens.
In this book, Dane Ortlund guides believers to Jesus by demonstrating that sanctification comes not by doing more or becoming better, but by delving into the wonderful truths of the gospel, the ones that were poured out on them when they were first united with Christ.
Drawing on the wisdom of prominent figures in church history, the author encourages readers to fix their gaze on Jesus in their struggle with sin, to rely on his grace, and to discover their unshakeable identity in Christ.

Recommendations
"In this book, Dane Ortlund does an excellent job of reminding us that in Christ, we can fully embrace our condemnation, while finding God's grace for the sinners we were, are, and will be until the time we leave this body of death. This is the good news of the gospel: we don't need to hide or delude ourselves about our real state; we can simply go to Christ who both condemns and justifies us. It is when the darkness is at its deepest that we can truly enjoy the awe-inspiring spectacle of a starry sky; likewise, it is in the deepest darkness of our hearts that we can most fully appreciate the grace of God manifested for us in Jesus!"
- Matthieu Gauthier, pastor at Église Évangélique d'Aujourd'hui, member of the SOLA Council; member of the Axiome Association
"After immersing myself in the wisdom, beauty, and encouragement of Dane's new book, I completely understand why my friend emphasized the importance of growing by deepening our relationship with Christ. How does God change us by making us his beloved daughters and sons? It's less about climbing a mountain and more about swimming in the deep ocean of Jesus' ever-expanding nature. If you've ever wondered what the Bible really meant by fixing "eyes on Jesus, who stirs up faith and leads it to perfection," this book should be next on your list. Dane helps us understand that the gospel revolves more around a person to worship and know than theological propositions and concepts to master."
- Scotty Smith, pastor emeritus, Christ Community Church, Franklin, Tennessee, USA; teacher-in-residence, West End Community Church, Nashville, Tennessee
"This exquisite and easy-to-read book by Dane Ortlund grounds our discipleship in a shining foundation at the center of Christianity: our Lord Jesus. We tend to think that as we grow as Christians we move on to "higher things" (whatever that means!), when in fact we simply need to discover the beauty and depth of Jesus and all he has accomplished for us. That's what Ortlund helps us do here. This book will bless you greatly!"
- Paul E. Miller, author of A Life in Prayer
"This existential anguish of our soul for 'more' is part of the process of growth. God has given us a hunger and thirst that only Jesus can fill. He is the inexhaustible source. In From Glory to Glory, Dane Ortlund reminds us that we don't overcome this anguish by changing our behavior or seeking a quick fix. We overcome it through the beauty of our friendship with Jesus. We overcome it by welcoming his peace at a deeper level of our souls. If you long with your whole being for more life, more joy, more peace, and more Jesus, this book is for you."
- Matt Chandler, senior pastor, The Village Church, Dallas, Texas, USA; president, Acts 29 Church Planting Network; author of The Mingling of Souls and The Gospel Explained
"Jesus said that our greatest "work" is to believe. Of all the authors still alive, Dane Ortlund is the one who helped me rekindle my faith. Through him, I have rediscovered the amazing tenderness and beauty of Jesus. As I read it, I feel my heart growing in trust, attachment and affections for God, based on the Savior's love for me. This pastoral book is incredibly helpful. Dane shows how our view of Jesus influences personal growth. To grow with Jesus, we must dig deeper into his finished work."
- J.D. Greear, senior pastor, The Summit Church, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, USA
