FIRST PART :
FAITH AND THE BIG QUESTIONS
CHAPTER 1: DOES GOD EXIST AND CAN WE KNOW HIM?
GOD AND CONTEMPORARY THOUGHT

  • Q.1: Does life really have meaning? Sometimes it all seems so vain and unnecessary.
  • Q.2: How do I know and love God if I am not even sure that he exists? Does it really exist?
  • Q.3: What if people invented God from scratch because they needed someone to take care of them?
  • Q.4: Why does the universe exist?
  • Q.5: Okay, so who created God?
  • Q.6: Why doesn't God reveal Himself more clearly?
  • Q.7: If everything you say is true, then why aren't there more believers?

CHAPTER 2: IF GOD IS GOOD, WHY DOES EVIL EXIST?
EVIL, SIN, AND GOD'S LOVE FOR HUMANITY

  • Q.8: Did God create evil?
  • Q.9: If God did not create evil, where does it come from?
  • Q.10: Why has God allowed us to disobey?
  • Q.11: So why does God, who is good, allow the consequences of evil? Why does it not erase evil as soon as it appears?
  • Q.12: Why does God, who is love and goodness, use suffering to transform us and make us grow spiritually?
  • Q.13: But isn't man naturally good, or at least morally neutral?
  • Q.14: Couldn't the world's problems be solved through better education and new social programs?
  • Q.15: How can murderers like Jeffrey Dahmer be capable of such crimes without being sick?
  • Q.16: Does hell exist?
  • Q.17: Are there really such creatures as angels and demons?

CHAPTER 3: DOES MODERN SCIENCE PROVIDE EVIDENCE AGAINST THE BIBLE AND CHRISTIANISM?
SCIENCE, EVOLUTION AND INTELLIGENT DESIGN

  • Q.18: Apart from the visible universe, is there nothing else?
  • Q.19: Didn't scientists experimentally prove that life was the result of chance?
  • Q20: Even though the scientific community has not precisely demonstrated how life came to be on earth, does it not have enough evidence to say that evolution is a certainty, not just a theory?
  • Q.21: Can't evolution and creation both be true?
  • Q.22: How do you differentiate what happens naturally from what is created?
  • Q.23: Isn't that just imputing to God what one does not understand?
  • Q.24: Apart from the DNA code, are there any other arguments in favor of creationism?
  • Q.25: If science hasn't really been able to demonstrate evolution, why do we still accept it and teach it in school as a certainty?
  • Q.26: Why would admitting the existence of a creator be a threat to teachers?
  • Q.27: Are you sure Christianity is not opposed to science?
  • Q.28: Doesn't the persecution of Galileo by the Catholic Church prove the latter's opposition to science?
  • Q.29: If we discover life on another planet, are Christians completely wrong about God?

CHAPTER 4: CAN WE REALLY TRUST THE BIBLE?
REASON, HISTORICAL EVIDENCE AND SCRIPTURES

  • Q.30: Isn't the Bible, like many ancient writings, full of myths and superstitions?
  • Q.31: The Bible was written by so many different people; what is its degree of authenticity?
  • Q.32: Why are people so skeptical about the authenticity of the Bible?
  • Q.33: What about miracles? Did they really happen?
  • Q.34: Do I have to believe the whole Bible? Do I have no choice but to believe what works for me or what harmonizes with my own way of seeing life?

CHAPTER 5: WHO IS JESUS CHRIST, AND WHY IS HE IMPORTANT?
THE REALITY, THE MISSION AND THE WORK OF JESUS CHRIST

  • Q.35: How do you know if Jesus really existed? Maybe the disciples made it up?
  • Q.36: Weren't most of the so-called “historical” proofs of Christianity outright fabricated by Christians?
  • Q.37: It may be that Jesus really existed, but was he God for all that?
  • Q.38: What is the proof that Jesus was God?
  • Q.39: Why did Jesus have to die?
  • Q.40: What about other monotheistic religions? Are they not worth Christianity?
  • Q.41: What happens to those who die without ever having heard of Christ? It seems unfair that they go to hell.

CHAPTER 6: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
LIFE BY FAITH

  • Q.42: Besides eternal life, what is so wonderful about being a Christian? Aren't all Christians fanatics obsessed with rules?
  • Q.43: Isn't Christianity a religion for the weak?
  • Q.44: Christians say they are “saved”. How come some are so mean?
  • Q.45: How can I become a Christian?
  • Q.46: I have said the prayer. Now what has changed in me?
  • Q.47: I don't remember ever having believed. Is it wrong?
  • Q.48: How do I know God's will for my life?

SECOND PART
WHAT TO DO WHEN ... ADOLESCENTS FACING CONTEMPORARY PROBLEMS
CHAPTER 7: WHY CHRISTIANS…?

  • Q.51: Shouldn't we be tolerant of what others believe?
  • Q.52: Does this mean that Christians are completely rigid?
  • Q.53: So why do people often view Christians as fanatics?
  • Q.54: Why does Christianity oppress women?
  • Q.55: How can Christians condemn homosexuals when it is God who made them so?
  • Q.56: How can we defend Christianity when it is responsible for so many wars and atrocities? What about the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition?
  • Q.57: Why are Christians anti-intellectual?
  • Q.58: Why are Christians not getting involved in ecological matters?

CHAPTER 8: WHY IS IT NECESSARY?
SEXUALITY, LOVE AND MARRIAGE

  • Q.59: Don't all these negative rules that Christians have regarding sexuality correspond to a form of rejection of the body? Why treat the body as if it is "dirty"?
  • Q.60: Why do Christians make a big deal out of it when it comes to sexuality?
  • Q.61: Why wait to be married before having sex?

  • Q.63: But a man needs sex. Isn't that a natural function?

  • Q.65: Shouldn't we be free to end our marriage when it no longer meets expectations?
  • Q.66: Since you got divorced, mom and dad, I can't respect you anymore. Why would I be wrong to make my own decisions when you made such bad ones?

CHAPTER 9: SHOULD I LOOK AFTER MY BABY? LIMITS OF LIFE: PREGNANCY, ABORTION AND BIOETHICS

  • Q.67: Why make such a big deal out of abortion? It is only a fetus, not a person.
  • Q.68: Opponents of abortion often compare the abortion policy to the Nazi holocaust. Isn't that going a bit far?
  • Q.69: If a young woman has an abortion, the problem is solved. She and the father can go on with their lives, right?
  • Q.70: Why do associations like family planning campaign to make abortion accessible to all?
  • Q.71: Mom, I am pregnant. What should I do ? Do I have to keep my child?
  • Q.72: What to do when the medical examinations show that the child is not normal?
  • Q.73: Without abortion, wouldn't we quickly be faced with overpopulation?
  • Q.74: What about genetic manipulation?
  • Q.75: What about cloning?

SCHOOL, VALUES AND VIOLENCE

Excellent !

Ce livre est écrit de manière à nous pousser à lire sans sauter des pages !
Ça dit tout à fait ce qu'est la culture ambiante et les tentations pour les jeunes d'y adhérer !
En fin de compte TOUT dépend de qui nous écoutons !
