Presentation

The sky! This subject seems so incongruous to man today that very few worry about it and prepare for it, even if a certain fear stings them as to the ultimate deadlines.

is it a chimera or a vaporous dream? Rather, the Bible presents it as the glorious and true rest that God reserves for his own. Many of our fellow human beings (perhaps us?) Deploy a prodigious ingenuity to hasten and lengthen the weekend rest, which however evaporates like a dream. Very few, on the other hand, care about this Sabbath, this rest, the shores of which are eternity and glory.

Richard Baxter speaks like a pastor and addresses everything to the both to the carefree, to the rebellious and to the faithful. Far from the coldness of a doctoral exposition, it exposes with the warmth of the shepherd the bliss of this eternal and true rest. He also warns of the great calamity which befalls him who deprives himself of it.

"What is this rest? "," Who are the saints? "," Am I entitled to heaven? "; here are pages to rejoice the heart of the believer, to challenge the carefree and guide the worried on the path to self-assurance.

Author

Richard Baxter (1615-1691) wrote several works which are among the classics of Christian literature, still published four centuries after his death. During his pastorate in Kidderminster (GB), a powerful work of the Spirit accompanied his ministry and radically transformed the face of the city.
