If understanding the Bible is a challenge for you comparable to exploring America on foot-an interesting, but colossal and particularly time-consuming project-why not use the Heidelberg Catechism as a road map?
The Heidelberg Catechism, published in 1563, is primarily a commentary on three texts: the Apostles' Creed, the Ten Commandments and the Lord's Prayer.
Like a road map, the Heidelberg Catechism can help you better understand the Bible by pointing out its main points of interest and leading you to the most beautiful and important truths of our faith. Christians have been referring to it for centuries. After the Bible, John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress and Thomas a Kempis' Imitation of Jesus Christ, the Heidelberg Catechism is the most widely distributed book in the world.
As Kevin DeYoung so aptly put it, "The thing that is harder to do than finding the truth is not losing it." The Almost Forgotten Good News brings us back to the Good News-the Gospel-in all its glory.
