A Doctrinal Introduction

Doctrine is essential to the Christian life ... This is "one of the most important poles of growth", writes Sinclair B. Ferguson. From this initial affirmation, The Christian Life exposes key biblical themes such as grace, faith, repentance, and the new birth with infectious clarity and enthusiasm. Christian doctrines transform our lives, explains the author, because they reveal to us the God whom we worship.

Widely used and appreciated since its first publication, the book The Christian Life offers to readers the cogs of the Christian life. Not only does it outline the teaching of the Scriptures, but it describes its practical implications for the Christian life. As J. I. Packer writes in his preface, it is a theology: practical, because it applies Bible teaching with discernment and wisdom for ordinary people.
