<transcy>The Lord's Supper (La sainte cène)</transcy>
Presentation
Is the Lord's Supper some magical sleight of hand, a mysterious initiation rite, or something superfluous with a mystical hint that has been added to the Christian religion? Is it about making the Lord's sacrifice again? Is it even a sacrifice?
Honest observation shows that, even among Christians, the institution of the Lord's Supper is often a great unknown.
The author of these pages leads the authentic Christian to rejoice in the richness of meaning that this blessed memory expresses. It emphasizes the covenant of grace, established "in the blood of Christ," which this ordinance recalls. He brings his reader to face the duties and privileges of fraternal communion that this meal implies. Finally, he directs all eyes to the glorious hope that bubbles up in the heart of every child of the living God. He invites all who love this wonderful Savior to draw abundantly and deeply from this source of blessing the power of his realities to live the victory of the Savior on a daily basis.
