<transcy> The Truth War (La guerre pour la vérité)</transcy>
The truth is under attack right now, and a lot is at stake. Many practicing Christians innocently follow the cross-stream of teachings and writings that support alternate Christian stories and emerging false ideologies. They are ignorant of the cultural push that strives to suppress absolute truth entirely. As a result, many people are deceived. Perhaps there is no one in North America who is more keen than John MacArthur to speak out against those who attack the truth - especially those who do so within the Church itself.
The content of this book is not a shot launched against our camp, but a missive directed directly at a formidable enemy.
There is no common ground - no protected area for those not engaged in this war. The war for truth rages on, and this book reveals:
- the traps of postmodern notions;
- why the Emerging Church movement is fundamentally flawed;
- the skirmishes that took place in the war for truth and their effects on the Church;
- the importance of truth and certainty in a postmodern society;
- how to recognize and deal with errors and false doctrines introduced in a covert way in the Churches.
Author
Since 1969, John MacArthur has served as a pastor-teacher at Grace Community Church, a church in Sun Valley, California. His ministry of preaching by exhibition is unmatched in scope and influence; during the four decades of ministry in the same Church, he exposed verse by verse the entire New Testament (as well as several key sections of the Old Testament). He is the president of The Master’s University and Seminary. It can be heard daily on the Grace to You radio show (broadcast on hundreds of radio stations around the world). He is the author of a number of bestsellers, including The Holy Bible with Commentaries by John MacArthur and The Gospel According to Jesus.Recommendations
“ [The postmodern era] is an era without truth, an era that has reached a point of extreme weariness when it comes to facing the truth - a generation that no longer believes in truth. 'one can know the truth. Mr. John MacArthur knows it is not, and he is armed with the courage to face these times and stand up for the truth boldly… He makes a compelling case and brilliantly defends the truth. His commitment to the Church is evident on every page. The Evangelical Church is in desperate need of this book, which comes just at the right time. »- R. Albert Mohler, son, President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
