Lack of consideration for the gospel message is one of the greatest crimes of Christians of our generation. It goes without saying that such neglect is at the root of many spiritual evils. The essential themes which constitute the very heart of the gospel - the righteousness of God, the total depravity of man, the atonement by blood - are little proclaimed from the pulpit.

In The Power and Message of the Gospel , Paul Washer discusses these essential elements of the good news of Jesus Christ and provides a guide to help us rediscover the gospel in all its beauty , its saving power and its scandalous dimension. May such a rediscovery transform your life, strengthen your preaching, and bring greater glory to God.

“As Paul Washer often repeats, we will know all the details of the Lord's coming when it comes, but we will spend eternity deepening our understanding of the gospel without ever reaching the foot of the mountain. of the glory of Christ revealed therein. The Church's greatest need has always been to better understand and live the Gospel. Therefore, the greatest crime of the Church has always been to neglect it. This is why I highly recommend this book by Paul Washer, knowing that it was written by a man who has dedicated his life to daily study and to deliver the most precious of all messages. "
- Vincent Lemieux, senior pastor of the Christian Assembly of Rouyn-Noranda

“I am deeply grateful for this bold work by Paul Washer. Christians today seem to have the false impression that the gospel is all about us - a wonderful blueprint for our lives; a way to find peace, joy or personal fulfillment; the way to go to heaven. These blessings (and many others) are obviously part of the birth privilege of every true believer, but they are not the primary purpose of the gospel message. This speaks of God and his eternal glory. This is where it begins, and this is where it leads us to the end. Preached correctly, the gospel enlightens us on our guilt and humbles every human heart. It emphasizes the ugliness of our sin. He even condemns our finest works of justice. The gospel is simple enough for a child to understand it, but its truths are inexhaustible. In short, the gospel is the best of all good news and the most important message anyone has ever shared. Paul Washer skillfully expands on this subject in this particularly powerful Bible study.
- John MacArthur, pastor-teacher, Grace Community Church, California; author of The Gospel According to Jesus

“Trend-conscious evangelicals have done a lot of tinkering over the past few decades in an attempt to make the gospel more attractive or more enticing. All of its sharpest aspects have been carefully sanded down and its message made as light as possible. He was then wrapped in a thick, fluffy covering so that no one could ever be hurt or offended by him. In The Power and Message of the Gospel , Paul Washer unveils the various facets of the gospel in all their glory. This book is a thoughtful and poignant reminder that the message Christ has asked us to proclaim is neither soft nor insignificant. It also cannot be improved or touched up by men. For some, the gospel can be a stumbling block; to others, it may seem like madness. However, for those who are called, there is the power and wisdom of God. »
