<transcy>Slandering the angels (Comment garder la foi ? - Le message de l’épître de Jude)</transcy>
Modern society makes a mockery of the possibility of knowing the absolute truth, which it claims does not exist. Men also set aside moral standards when these stand in the way of personal pleasure and individual stimulation. And religious circles are not spared.
In such an environment, two dangers threaten the Church. Tired of swimming against the current permissiveness, she runs the risk of letting go of her attachment to biblical truth and its practical implications, as well as of renouncing her faith in Christ as the only Savior, in order to achieve social respectability.
At the same time, the believer's longing for a spiritual awakening exposes him to accept anything that gives the appearance of the supernatural, anything that causes a sensation and attracts a crowd, even if it does not. has little to do with the biblical message.
In his day, Jude wrote his epistle to combat a false teaching which in many ways illustrates the worst dangers that threaten the Church and the gospel today. His message is most current and relevant.
In these pages, John Benton urges his reader to grasp Jude's vision of fighting for the faith handed down once and for all to the Saints. This fight is not only at the level of the intellect, but it also affects a concrete and responsible Christian life, imbued with love for those who go astray, but faithful to nature and the revelation of God.
