Theological work par excellence, “great charter of Christian freedom”, the Epistle to the Galatians apparently so far removed from our immediate needs and yet of prime importance in our personal life, invites us to experience the glorious freedom of the children of God.

The life of the flesh makes man both a slave to the law and a slave to sin. While remaining under this regime, he knows only guilt or pride, constantly oscillating from one to the other while wanting to do good. Then comes the cross. From it flows grace, that which saves and frees. Like the letter to the Romans, the life of the Spirit is here proclaimed as the imperishable power of life.

It is by receiving it with faith that a new era of freedom begins: freed from the condition of slaves, we become children in the Son, heirs of the promises, free in the house of the Father!

Considering such a precious good, Paul strives to denounce anything that offends the Spirit of grace and in particular the religious spirit, a threatening danger for the Galatians but also for us who, just like them , have reached "the end of the centuries".
