------------------------

As the believer deepens his understanding of spiritual truths and turns his heart to God, his former sinful life loses its appeal.

The Christian life is a real struggle for holiness. Our vocation to be set apart puts us in the crosshairs of a culture that opposes the truth of God. Even if the world around us changes, our struggle remains the same. To resist the temptation to compromise on sin or flee suffering, Christians must hold on to the Word of God. Only then can we lead a life that pleases the Lord.

In this book, John MacArthur presents us with a battle plan based on the Word of God that will help us to remain faithful to the Lord. God has revealed what behavior we are to adopt in a hostile world. Through his Word and Spirit, he provides us with everything we need to persevere in holiness, humility and love.
